BACKGROUND / PERSONAL 

Treaka Nicole Young grew up in St. Louis, coming to Jefferson City to attend Lincoln University. Treaka and her husband Bryan have lived in Jefferson City for nearly 40 years and raised their two sons, Joseph (Sarah) and Torrie, in Jefferson City. Treaka enjoys playing card games, taking long walks, and spending time with her family, sorority sisters, and friends.

EDUCATION
Treaka holds a certificate as a Medical Assistant. She earned a bachelor's and two master's degrees from Lincoln University and is currently a Doctoral Candidate (she will graduate in June 2024) with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri—-Columbia

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND AFFILIATIONS
She retired from state government after serving over 20 years and recently (until May 2024) worked as a program manager for the University of Missouri. In May 2024, Treaka began her new role as the Director of the Jefferson City Campus for State Fair Community College.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Treaka currently serves on the United Way Executive Committee, Habitat for Humanity, and the Little Explorers Discovery Center Board of Directors, and for two years before being elected to the City Council, on the Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission. Treaka was elected on April 2, 2024, as Jefferson City's first African American woman to serve on the Jefferson City -City Council.
